Canada set a new points record for their country

Canada are turning heads after starting with two huge wins, their latest being a record-breaker.

LEON & IRAPUATO (Mexico) - Canada are looking like they could be genuine podium material at the FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup 2024 after posting another scorching performance and setting a new scoring record.

They attained the joint fifth highest points tally in competition history for a game and the highest ever by any Canada team as they burned Chinese Taipei 112-59.

Canada were far too strong for Chinese Taipei

Only USA have ever scored more points than Canada, with Spain the other team who has 112 as the high tide mark.

The victory was built around another excellent show from double-act Agot Makeer and Savannah Swords. The former netted 22 points and the latter recorded 16, with Canada devastating in the open court and running up 33 fast-break points.
